Dark Light

Statements

As artists, writers, poets, translators, and humans, the events across our shared globe have given us pause for cogitation and cause for action. Whilst our hearts have been heavy, our tongues will not be light.

Rowayat stands unequivocally with Palestine, Sudan, the Congo, and with countless other peoples facing occupation and aggression. We further affirm that life is sacred in all traditions. Faith—one of our issues—is to be protected. Discrimination based on race, creed, or ethnicity has no home, anywhere.

Rowayat itself was birthed after a revolution; many of its editors and contributors have heritage with the aforementioned regions. We join other creatives in calls for a ceasefire, and hope for a world where intellectuals and artists can once more focus on their work without fear.

Rowayat has a NO AI POLICY. Rowayat as a literary journal and indie publisher is devoted to publishing creative work from human writers and artists only. Although AI text and image generation have achieved a remarkable likeness to writing and art created by humans, we are not open to works that include artificial intelligence in their creation. This includes art or texts, such as articles or prompts, titles, names, outlines, dialogue, plot elements, descriptive passages, etc. Violators of this policy will be permanently banned from our pages.
