Dark Light

Pocket Jubilee

by Joseph Pfeffer

December passes again in quiet
Fireworks illume the waters

Conversation, liquid conference
Bays of a skyline tourmaline

As you smile in close and lean
Shatters in shards of technicolour

Fingers release, to lace again
A clamorous rain, a starlight plain

The night is soft, is whispers, ears
Black-run through with brilliant dyes

I pocket your brilliant theatre sky,
face up to the many days and years.
