As artists, writers, poets, translators, and humans, the events across our shared globe have given us pause for cogitation and cause for action. Whilst our hearts have been heavy, our tongues will not be light.
Rowayat stands unequivocally with Palestine, Sudan, the Congo, and with countless other peoples facing occupation and aggression. We further affirm that life is sacred in all traditions. Faith—one of our issues—is to be protected. Discrimination based on race, creed, or ethnicity has no home, anywhere.
Rowayat itself was birthed after a revolution; many of its editors and contributors have heritage with the aforementioned regions. We join other creatives in calling for a permanent ceasefire, and hope for a world where intellectuals and artists can once more focus on their work without fear.
